A Sista in Tokyo.

TswoopeyI.jpg

Y’all know me by now and y’all should know I don’t believe in being all diplomatic and choicey with my words so I’m just going to tell you right off the top - living in Alabama you just don’t run into too many outgoing, aggressive, eclectic type sisters around here. The one or two open-minded sisters a brother like me is lucky enough to run into around here are usually already deeply in love with some lucky bastard that doesn’t have a clue the diamond he has in his midst or they’re just passing through town getting their higher education at the University of Alabama or UAB before escaping back to wherever they came from in the US or the Caribbean or somewhere in Africa -  like this one luscious, thick sister I ran into at Office Depot that’s getting her degree in accounting and running back to Sudan  - but I digress. The majority of the Southern sisters I grew up knowing personally or through a friend of a friend have scattered themselves around the globe stretching from Hawaii all the way up to Canada, all the way down to Australia and all over to Africa and up to Japan - enter a young sista that goes by the name of Tswoopey.

Hell, the picture alone (shown above, duh) speaks for itself. She’s petite, slinky, sexy, trendy, alluring, poised, mature, and very comfortable with herself. In my experience of engaging in discussions with her online she  exudes confidence, intellect and self esteem. She is a presence that demands respect - not because she’s emasculating and domineering (because she’s neither of the above)  but because she is very respectful, insightful, thoughtful, sincere, concise and to the point when she expresses her thoughts.  I’m sure you people are smart enough to realize from the title that she is the sista in Tokyo but there’s more meaning of the title than meets the eye. But why am I showcasing this delectable sister? Because she’s a native of Alabama - doing her own thing on the other side of the world.

Tswoopey.jpg

Swoopey also has her own blog entitled, you guessed it, A Sista in Tokyo.  Do yourself a favor and check out her blog. Her brief but epic bio reads:

I am originally from Decatur, Alabama and have been a resident of Washington, DC for the past four years.  My initial interest in Japan began as a child when I learned that the meaning of my first name was the Japanese word for treasure.  Fast forward to the college years, my interest increased tenfold and I found myself living as an exchange student in Japan during the fall of 2003.

Upon graduating from Howard University May of 2005, I was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship and on the 11th of September 2005 I jetted off to Tokyo to begin my new life as a researcher— for a year.

At the conclusion of a fabulous year as a Fulbrighter in Sendai, I relocated to Tokyo. Now, I am a professional in the business world of Japan.

This is the kind of sister you usually only see on the Oprah Winfrey Show or Tavis Smiley’s late night talk show but she’s right here right now. I won’t lie - many brothers talk a lot of game but they would be intimidated by a young lady of this caliber. But seeing as a brother like me was raised by a very strong mom and two equally strong sisters it’s common nature for me to be in awe of this amazing young lady. I’m in awe not just of her natural beauty I’m also in awe of her personality, her boldness, her determination and her accomplishments. And she does it all seemingly with ease. Do not be surprised if you see this sister playing a major role in politics, entrepreneurship or law.
